Overwhelm … Anxiety … Emotional Trauma

One way or another, these three symptoms feature high with a majority of people who come to see me. It may be one particular event, or an issue that has been going on for years and has reached that point where it just has to be dealt with. Maybe it’s that sense of “something’s come over me” or “I’m not myself” or “I want my old self back” … a phobia that’s holding them back …
My blend of hypnotherapy, regression and other processes has proved very effective in dealing with these kinds of challenges. I always aim to trace back the real underlying root cause of the issue, whatever it may be, and to resolve it at source. That may mean, for instance, locating and releasing old traumas and emotions that have been weighing the client down. It may mean exploring a past life (yes, really) … the work is “out there”, it’s weird – but it works.
If you know someone who might benefit from “lightening the load” emotionally speaking, give them my numbers. I’m always happy to have a chat: 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.

We all have a large rubbish bin full of emotional baggage: stuff we should have got rid of years ago. But we become attached to it, like an old pair of slippers or a baggy sweater, and somehow we never get around to letting it go …

Trouble is, it mounts up and mounts up in the system, at one level or another, and eventually it all becomes too much. “Overwhelm” is something I deal with frequently with clients who are crumbling under the weight of accumulated emotional baggage. If we haven’t bagged up and got rid of emotional traumas, we keep tripping over them, they get in the way, they stop us from moving forward.

In my experience, the only way to truly clear out all of this type of rubbish is to trace it back to the real underlying emotional root cause, and to resolve it at source. The basis of my work is hypnotherapy as a way of accessing the unconscious, where most of the trauma (in all its forms) is stored. I use a number of techniques and processes in my “rubbish clearance service” – releasing traumas from this life; exploring possible traumas in past lives and so on – all aimed at getting rid of that emotional baggage once and for all. Clients find emotional freedom; they reclaim their personal power; they are able to move on with their lives free from fears, phobias, anxiety and that sense of overwhelm. Amazing what a good clear-out can do!

If you – or someone you know – could benefit from my special emotional rubbish clearance service, my numbers are 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512: I’m always happy to have a chat (totally confidential, totally free of charge).

How fears and phobias hold us back

Mary was delighted to become a grandmother for the first time. But her new grandson was in Hong Kong and her fear of flying made it impossible for her to go and visit him.
Sally’s daughter was terrified of dogs. Her walk to school was a nightmare, and playing in the park was out of the question.
Dave loved driving but would have to check every route because he couldn’t bear to drive over bridges. It added miles to each journey, wasted valuable time and cost extra in fuel.

Mary sent me an email with a photo of her holding her grandson in Hong Kong. Sally’s daughter no longer dreads the walk to school. Dave has discovered many scenic new routes since he overcame his fear of bridges.

If you know someone who is being held back in their personal or professional life by a fear or a phobia (one is just a more severe version of the other), why not reassure them that help is at hand?

I am based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex and I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre, also in Haywards Heath.

I’m always happy to have a chat about the issues that are stopping people reaching their full potential.

Fear of Flying – is it keeping you grounded?

You’d really like to join your mates on a golfing trip to the Algarve. Your fear of flying holds you back.

You’d love to visit your first grandchild in Hong Kong. Your fear of flying holds you back.

You’d love to go for that promotion as European Sales Manager. Your fear of flying holds you back.

As the world gets smaller and travel (in theory at least!) gets easier, so fear of flying becomes more and more of an issue.
I’ve had clients coming to me with all of these scenarios and more – their partner is fed up with cruises; the family is threatening to leave them at home while they fly off on holiday; and their job is on the line if they can’t get to that board meeting in Spain or the States.

This particular phobia can take many forms – is it the take-off and landing? Or the idea of being so high, above the clouds? Is it the fact that you are strapped in? Confined to a small space? Not in control? It is complex, and often it may be more than one or all of these.

Sometimes, there is a logical reason in this lifetime for an extreme reluctance to fly. If, for instance, you were on a transatlantic flight as a child and the plane was caught in severe turbulence over the ocean, that would be enough to trigger anxiety. Or if there was once a technical problem on a flight, it had to turn back, an engine caught fire ….. then, for some people, that is enough to put them off for life. Or several lives …

In my many years of working with fears and phobias, I have found that the real root cause of fear of flying for many people lies not in this lifetime at all, but in a past life.  Recent cases have included a man who went back to a life as a fighter pilot in WWI, when the planes were little more than balsa wood and sticking plaster and the pilots had no parachutes. He was shot down on his third mission, aged just 19. A lady found a life as a man in India in the 1600s: after exploring a fascinating life, we found him buried under rubble during an earthquake in Calcutta. He was not found, and died there, trapped in that enclosed space.

If your fear of flying is holding you back, in your personal or professional life, get in touch. Let’s get it sorted – and watch your life take off! Email me via the Contact page of this website, or call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.

How could Hypnotherapy help you?

There seems to be a perception “out there” that people who come to see someone like me must be “strange” in some way, or into “all that woo woo stuff”.
Let me set the record straight on that. Some people who come to see me are indeed on their own spiritual journey, and I am very happy to work with them. Using my blend of hypnotherapy, past life, spirit release and soul retrieval work can help them overcome blockages and shift them up a notch or two.
However, the majority of people who come to see have not given much thought to their spirituality at all, they just want to sort out whatever issue is holding them back. And that is absolutely fine with me too.

There are many ways in which hypnotherapy can be used to help people: indeed that is one of the reasons I was attracted to it all those years ago. Like a tradesman with a toolbox full of tried and tested tools, I will use whichever techniques and processes I feel will be most effective to resolve the particular issue I am dealing with. My objective is always to get to the root cause of the issue and to resolve it at source.

What are the typical types of problems that people present me with?
Fears and phobias is a common one: anything from a fear of flying to fear of success – a phobia is, after all, a more exaggerated, irrational fear. Very often this can lead back to a past life – the very idea may sound strange to some people, but once they have experienced one or more of their previous lives, they are totally convinced!

Weight loss is high on the list too. There is so much hype and media / peer pressure nowadays for people to be slim to the point of being skinny, that even some people I would say are “normal” want to lose weight. I do work with those who are genuinely seriously overweight and we aim to find the real underlying reason why the client is holding on to that excess weight. If needed, and after looking at the other issues, I will “fit” a hypnotic gastric band to help with weight control.

“Emotional issues” covers a wide range of challenges that people face, from anxiety and stress to feeling overwhelmed with situations or relationships. Here again I always work with the client to uncover the root causes and deal with those. There may be a couple of “spirit passengers” having an influence – again, some people think this is a very strange concept. To me, it is totally natural, and results can range from subtle but “something has definitely shifted” to quite dramatic – kicking a gambling addiction, losing a craving for cakes and biscuits, for instance. That is just the starting point, of course, and we can look back at past lives, investigate deep-seated belief systems or even talk to parts of the body if appropriate.

Pain control – pain is actually a construct in the brain and, as such, may be de-constructed. It should always be remembered of course that pain is the body’s alarm system and as such should not be switched off completely. I would work with a client to put in place a new “programme” to give the client control, the ability to turn down the pain when needed: this is done through strong hypnotic suggestions, visualisations and similar techniques.

Giving up Smoking – generally speaking, this can be done in one session with hypnotherapy. But again, I would always talk with the client to see what else is going on – someone who is very stressed or has other emotional, mental or physical issues to deal with will not find it as easy to give up as someone whose issues have been dealt with.

If you feel that my blend of hypnotherapy, past life, spirit release and soul retrieval work could help you, give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I am always happy to have a chat: there’s no commitment, as I understand it is important for a client to find just the right therapist to work with. I am based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and work primarily from Vinings Natural Health Centre, also in Haywards Heath.

Fears and Phobias – sorted with Hypnotherapy

Screen shot 2015-06-24 at 3.55.41 PMThe vast majority of people have some kind of phobia and there is a very long list of them with their official very long names! Among the most common are, for instance, fear of flying; fear of crowds and / or public speaking; fear of enclosed spaces; fear of fire or water; fear of particular animals and so on.

For much of the time people with a phobia can somehow work around it but when it reaches a point when the phobia is having a negative impact on that person’s life, that is the time to do something about it!

In my many years of working with hypnotherapy and past life regression, I have to say that almost invariably a phobia can be traced back to a past life trauma. Not always of course – a fear of dogs may come from having been attacked or bitten by a dog in childhood – but I would still check to see if that chimes with a similar incident in a past life.

Past life work is my passion, and it still makes me smile when I work with a client and uncover one or more past lives that explain the root cause of the given phobia. The examples are endless, and all make perfect sense: let me share a few with you to give you an idea.

A woman who told me she was fine being by the sea but could not stand being by a lake or a river went back to a life as a street urchin in London. The young boy ran errands for an inn-keeper in exchange for board and lodging, often delivering packages on a strict, “ask no questions” basis. A few years later, the boy was doing similar work for one of the London gangs, and had done something to upset them. His punishment was to be tied hand and foot and thrown into the Thames: not a nice ending.

A woman came to see me with a complicated cocktail of emotional issues, including not feeling loved or wanted; an obsession with food; and wanting to have children but at the same time being very unsure about that whole thing. We found a very short, sad life where she was a young baby who was just one mouth too many to feed, and who had been thrown down a deep well and buried alive. Can you imagine the feelings and emotions of that tiny infant? The darkness, the fear, the sense of not being loved or wanted? The hunger, the weight of the earth and the suffocating as the poor little mite was buried. Yes, it was very traumatic, and we did a lot of healing – but it really did show where many of the issues came from. “Lighter and brighter” is a very typical response once that type of session has been processed.

A man whose issues included a sense of loss and depression, and who in this life is a great nature lover, found a life as a native American Indian at a time when the tribes were under threat of attack and invasion by soldiers. As an Elder of the Tribe, he was responsible for trying to find the best solution for the people, including negotiating with other tribes to join against the common enemy. There was a feeling of living in times of enormous change over which there was no control; of destruction of the environment by the invaders; and of not being able to protect his people. The death was relatively peaceful, surrounded by other Elders, but considerable wisdom came through from that lifetime with a broader understanding of his affinity with nature, and also put that sense of loss and depression to bed.

Very often people who are holding on to excess weight have starved to death in a previous life; those with a fear of heights have perhaps been pilots who were shot down in battle, or going further back soldiers who fell off castle battlements.

Does it all sound very depressing? I don’t mean it to. When you consider that we have all had many, many lives, most of which have been “ordinary” and some of which may have ended in trauma, it puts it all in context. By finding the trauma, releasing it at source and doing the relevant healing work, it allows the client to move forward with his or her life free of the the baggage that they have been carrying for far too long!

If any of this chimes with you; if you feel it’s time to tackle that phobia that’s holding you back – give me a call now on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I’m always happy to talk you through past life regression or any other aspect of my work.
I am based at Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and sessions can be arranged day time, evening or weekends, to suit busy schedules!

Are you a typical hypnotherapy client?

I am often asked about the type of people who come to see me, and what sort of issues they are looking to resolve. The assumption is that, because the way I work is a tad “off piste” shall we say, that my clients are a bit whacky too.

Screen shot 2014-02-17 at 3.53.31 PMNot so. My clients span the spectrum of trades and professions, from police officers and airline cabin crew to business consultants, top executives and successful entrepreneurs. Mixed in with a goodly sprinkling of women who look after home and children or do regular granny duty!

pensive mature womanThe age range is from mid-20s to late 60s, with a couple of clients in their 70s. Proportion about 1/3 men to 2/3 women. Issues range far and wide, from various fears and phobias to giving up smoking; from weight problems to pain control. But actually, underlying many of these “presenting problems” as we call them, were emotional and relationship issues.

Typically a woman will reach that point in her life when the youngest child is just off to university, there could well be a crisis of some kind in the relationship with her husband, perhaps issues from her childhood have been triggered …. any one of these on its own would be enough to pile on weight, but two or more and it is almost certain that there will be comfort eating and it will be tough to get rid of the excess weight. I don’t recommend more hours in the gym or fewer lettuce leaves for lunch; rather I help the client to trace back the real root cause of the issue, and we resolve it at source, be that childhood in this life or way back in another lifetime.

Or it may be that a client will say something like, “I feel something’s come over me” or “I’m not myself” or “I want my old self back:” Have you found yourself saying that? That indicates to me that you could well have picked up a spirit “Passenger” along the way. Nothing dramatic, it can be sorted out very easily – and voilá, you have your old self back!

Fear of success; addictive behaviours; nagging anxiety; sleep walking or activity in a sleep state; lack of confidence: do any of those ring a bell with you? Perhaps you are curious about a past life – do you have flashbacks, or a recurring dream? Or are you perhaps just on your own spiritual journey and feel that delving that bit deeper into who you were could help that process along?

If so – you are a typical client for hypnotherapy, and I would love to hear from you!

I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I am very flexible on times. Clients who come to see me from London very often come at weekends, for instance – they enjoy the easy train journey (less than an hour) and the peace, quiet and fresh air of the Sussex countryside!

You can call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512: I look forward to hearing from you!

Whatever the root cause of your phobia …

.. we’ll find it and set you free

and hypnotherapy can cut them all down to size!

We are all afraid of certain things and, in most cases, there are perfectly understandable reasons for those fears. A child who almost drowned when a big wave knocked her over the first time she went into the sea will probably not be very keen to repeat that experience, and that reluctance can develop into a fear of the sea or a more general fear of water. Ditto a child bitten by a dog.

A phobia is more extreme: it is an irrational or out-of-proportion fear of something. Some phobias can completely take over the life of the sufferer – an agoraphobic, for instance, feels huge anxiety about being in places or situations from which there is no escape, often translated into a fear of open or public places. This can lead people to live their lives unable to leave the security of their own homes.

I have just been re-reading Roger Woolger’s fabulous book “Other Lives, Other Selves” in which he talks about how common it is for all kinds of fears and phobias to be traced back to previous lifetimes. The same applies to behavioural traits and obsessions – very often the person is repeating patterns set in previous lives, be it addictions, abusive relationships or unhealthy eating habits.

The term “regression” simply means “going back” and it may be that the root cause of a particular issue can be found in very early childhood or indeed in the womb: this is especially common if an unborn baby / very young child picks up on the fact that they are not wanted, or perhaps they are a girl instead of a boy, or they are not perfect.

In many cases, however, tracing the root cause of the fear or phobia may lead us into a past life – or more than one. This should not be a cause for concern – the whole process is totally safe and secure, and leads to insights that help the client to understand the situation and resolve the outstanding issues.

I read with great interest in my newspaper of choice – the lovely “i”, little sister of the Independent – that the Vatican has formally recognised a group of 250 priests in 30 countries who “liberate the faithful from demons”. The Congregation for Clergy approved the International Association of Exorcists.

There are several important points I’d like to make about this short snippet of news:

First, when I work with my clients, religion does not enter into it. I don’t ask what, if any, religion my clients follow, it’s irrelevant. I freely admit that my work has distinct spiritual overtones, and I do work “intuitively”, with more than a little guidance from my unseen helpers.
But given the rigid dogma of the Catholic church and their denial of the existence of exorcists in the past, this announcement is a major shift, and means that all those priests who have been helping their parishoners can now do so openly instead of covertly.

Secondly, the phraseology of the announcement is very dramatic, isn’t it. The priests “liberate the faithful from demons” and there is an International Association of Exorcists. I don’t know if this Association has just been created for the priests or if it has been going for a long time and is only now being recognised. In any event, it acknowledges first of all the presence of “demons” (I’ll come back to that) and the fact that they can be “exorcised” – exactly as that great healer Jesus did many times, according to the Bible.

Sadly the term “Exorcist” now conjures up images from the horror movie and puts people off the whole idea even more when actually it is all perfectly natural and can be dealt with very gently and easily.

When I was learning spirit release techniques, I clearly remember my mentor telling me that some 95% of people shopping in any given supermarket at any given time would have a couple of spirit “passengers”. I was amazed, as I had not realised how commonplace they were. But my own experience bears it out – at least 95% of clients that I work with have got at least a couple of “passengers”, and last year, within one month, I dealt with two clients who each had more than a dozen.

They are not all “demons” if by demons we mean evil beasties with pointy ears and a long tail. Spirit passengers are merely lost souls, spirits who for various reasons have not made the crossing from this physical world into the next realm of energy. Most commonly this is when there has not been a period when the person in the physical body has been preparing for his / her passing. When the person dies suddenly – in a car crash, perhaps or a bomb explosion or a shooting – the soul hasn’t packed its suitcase, it’s not sure where to go, it’s lost, and it will look around for another place to go. That place will be the energy field (or aura) of someone with similar or welcoming energy. Most of the time, the spirit will curl up and sleep peacefully, but sometimes it can make its presence felt – and this is when it is time to move it on.

It does not need elaborate ceremonies or hours of ritual, just a conversation, an understanding, a bit of negotiation and a smooth passage.

Would I call that “exorcising a demon”? No, not at all. I would call it getting to the root cause of an issue, dealing with it and allowing my client to move on with his / her life. All in a day’s work.

I have had some interesting cases recently, you can read them in individual posts and see for yourself the wide variety of issues that can be traced back to spirit “passengers”. If you’d like to know more; if you “haven’t been feeling quite yourself recently” or if you feel that you don’t like the person you’ve become – give me a call on 07597 020 512.
