Fear of Flying – is it keeping you grounded?

You’d really like to join your mates on a golfing trip to the Algarve. Your fear of flying holds you back.

You’d love to visit your first grandchild in Hong Kong. Your fear of flying holds you back.

You’d love to go for that promotion as European Sales Manager. Your fear of flying holds you back.

As the world gets smaller and travel (in theory at least!) gets easier, so fear of flying becomes more and more of an issue.
I’ve had clients coming to me with all of these scenarios and more – their partner is fed up with cruises; the family is threatening to leave them at home while they fly off on holiday; and their job is on the line if they can’t get to that board meeting in Spain or the States.

This particular phobia can take many forms – is it the take-off and landing? Or the idea of being so high, above the clouds? Is it the fact that you are strapped in? Confined to a small space? Not in control? It is complex, and often it may be more than one or all of these.

Sometimes, there is a logical reason in this lifetime for an extreme reluctance to fly. If, for instance, you were on a transatlantic flight as a child and the plane was caught in severe turbulence over the ocean, that would be enough to trigger anxiety. Or if there was once a technical problem on a flight, it had to turn back, an engine caught fire ….. then, for some people, that is enough to put them off for life. Or several lives …

In my many years of working with fears and phobias, I have found that the real root cause of fear of flying for many people lies not in this lifetime at all, but in a past life.  Recent cases have included a man who went back to a life as a fighter pilot in WWI, when the planes were little more than balsa wood and sticking plaster and the pilots had no parachutes. He was shot down on his third mission, aged just 19. A lady found a life as a man in India in the 1600s: after exploring a fascinating life, we found him buried under rubble during an earthquake in Calcutta. He was not found, and died there, trapped in that enclosed space.

If your fear of flying is holding you back, in your personal or professional life, get in touch. Let’s get it sorted – and watch your life take off! Email me via the Contact page of this website, or call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.

Past Lives and Life between Lives

Past life work is my passion, because I understand how powerful it can be at resolving such a wide range of issues.

Over the years I have helped lots and lots of people to explore their past lives, either out of interest or because we were tracing back the root cause of a particular issue in this lifetime. I have had clients come to me with problems such as sleep disorder; a constant, nagging anxiety; and even infertility. None of these clients would have specifically come to me for a session of past life regression and yet, working back to find the root causes, we ended up in some very interesting situations in times gone by. The process of discovering what caused the pain or trauma in the first place, and dealing with any outstanding issues of course, almost inevitably resolves the problem in this current lifetime, allowing the client to move on knowing that the baggage has been dealt with.

Life between lives is a fascinating topic and, like past life regression, it’s a huge subject in itself.

If we work from the assumption that the soul survives death – what happens to it? Where does it go? Why does it come back – or doesn’t it? It would take a book to answer all of those questions in depth, and people such as Roger Woolger have produced books that do just that.

But in brief, the soul “goes home” to that other reality, that other dimension, where it is met by its soul group. This is a bit like meeting up with old friends after years of being away: a time for celebration and renewing those links, and of telling stories about that time away. What did you do, what was good, what was not so good; what you learned; all those experiences!

After a period of settling in and resting, the soul meets with what is generally called “The Council of Elders” for a more formal de-briefing of the time on earth. Each soul comes to earth with a “to do” list, lessons to be learned, challenges to be undertaken. This de-briefing is the time to go through that list and discuss how well the life lived matched the original objectives. It is not done in a judgmental way, rather with love and compassion, helping the soul to understand where the challenges were not met, as well as acknowledging the progress the soul has made in other areas. That leads to the preparation of the script for the next life, and in a session with a client I ensure that we check on the script for this life.

The purpose of the soul’s interval on earth is to make spiritual progress but it is not that easy to rattle through the “to do” list and cross things off, for it is erased from the conscious memory of the baby at birth. So how do souls know what they are meant to achieve? By linking with that inner, unconscious knowing – or by going back to that time between lives when the new contracts were agreed and the “to do” list drawn up.

Going back to the time before birth, to that period between lives, allows us to meet our soul group, those other souls who are usually with us life after life, in one way or another. A mother or brother in this life may have been a lover or a rival or a sworn enemy before. Inevitably there are reasons why they keep turning up in our lives and these threads weave their own stories across eternity. It is always fascinating to recognise people from the soul group: that in itself frequently explains relationship issues (for better or worse!) or instant attraction or that feeling of “I’ve only just met you but I feel as though I’ve known you for years”.

But the real issue is, usually, “why am I here? What is on my “to do” list this time round?” Re-playing that discussion with the “council”; re-reading the contract and reminding yourself consciously of your life’s purpose, is a very powerful exercise. I have been told, for instance, that I am in the last of a linked trilogy of lives dedicated to exploring and practising Grace. It was enormously humbling to try and understand that I had made a contract not for one, but for three lifetimes, in order to make the necessary progress along my spiritual pathway. And even more humbling to assess this current life and realise how much work there still is to be done!

It is an honour and a privilege to work with clients on this type of journey. A typical session takes a couple of hours and can be very emotional, but it is also beautiful to make that connection and to feel the unconditional love that always comes from “home”.

Weight Loss and Hypnotic Gastric Banding: an overview

red apple, inches tape measureI am often asked about the way in which I work with clients who want to get rid of excess weight, and also about hypnotic gastric banding. You can read more in the Weight Loss section on the site, but here is a 5-page report that gives you a good overview to what it’s all about. If you have any more questions, do feel free to call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512: I’m always happy to chat about it and explain anything that isn’t quite clear.

Real Testimonials from Real Clients

Sometimes clients will write me a letter – or, more commonly nowadays, send me an email – to let me know what changes have come about in their lives as a result of their sessions with me. It is always a pleasure to receive such feedback. A handful are reproduced here, to give a flavour of the wide range of issues that have been resolved.
Names have been  removed to maintain client confidentiality. First, a selection of “one-liners” and then a few slightly longer explanations.
If you feel I might be able to help you, why not give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I am always happy to have a chat about whatever issue may be holding you back in your life.

“I’m more present, more awake.”

“I left (the session) not knowing up or down …. There was lots of processing, and now I am lighter, happier and more joyful.”

“I haven’t felt this good in my life.       I’ve turned the corner.”

“The work you’ve done so far has been an enormous help, thank you very much!”

“It’s easier for me to accept who I am. I’m happy with who I am, and I’m easier to get on with.”

screen-shot-2016-10-06-at-20-04-44“I really enjoyed the session, and did indeed feel the benefit of it. With regards my back, it felt very much improved straight away as you know, with a feeling of freeness that I had not experienced for years. ….. Also re the food issue, that seems to be improving too. Initially there didn’t seem to be any difference in the way I felt about food, but maybe a week or so later, it was like a switch had been flicked in my head, and I just felt all of a sudden that I ‘didn’t need to be fat anymore’ ….. It would be lovely for this to be something that I can leave behind in the past. Or perhaps more usefully, something that can be consigned to the mental rubbish bin as it is something that is now no longer required in my life.”

“I’m calmer, more relaxed. I’m able to let go, I’m finding it easier to make decisions.
My back is feeling much better. I have had problems with my right wrist for years, it is now loosening up and becoming more flexible.”

“I just wanted to drop you an email to let you know how successful my sessions were.
I don’t think I will ever enjoy flying but at least I am able to fly. It was so nice to visit my son (and new grandchild) and this was made possible because of your help.”

“It’s been several weeks since I last saw you and, as promised, I thought I’d let you know how things are with me.
I have used the relaxation disc you gave me most days and I have gained great benefit from it.
I still suffer with pain in my back but I do have days when it is much less painful and I feel my health has benefited with relaxing more and listening to your words.
So, I am grateful for your help and send my best wishes, hoping all is well with you.”

“I just wanted to thank you and let you know how I was getting on after that amazing session with you last Wednesday.
I felt truly unburdened and free, as well as powerful and glorious. I  feel I’ve reached a point I’ve been straining towards for years – a point where I have full confidence in who I am and full faith in all that is. And unexpectedly an enormous amount of joy and fun came from it too!
Everyone around me noticed – my interactions with others has changed a lot – no more neediness towards others, just a desire to empower and love them.
So I was on a real high for several days. No more sleeping pills – I just don’t want or need them anymore – and I’m now slowly cutting back on the other medication too.”

“I thought I’d send you a quick email to let you know how I’m doing after our 3 sessions recently.
I started the ( ) Weight Plan shortly after our sessions and I’ve lost 2 stone in 7 weeks!
It’s a very low calorie diet (600 per day everyday) but I have stuck to it religiously and not strayed once! People around me can’t believe I haven’t binged or had a ‘treat’ but I truly have not strayed and reaped the rewards!
I’ve got another 2 and half stone to lose but feel very positive and cannot believe how well this is going for me.
It’s all down to our sessions so I’d like to thank you very much.”

Sojourn of the Soul workshop at College of Psychic Studies: what a great day

college of psychic studiesIt was my pleasure to lead another workshop at The College of Psychic Studies last weekend.  The title was “The Sojourn of the Sou – the Importance of that Life between Lives” and we explored the wider picture of death, as a starting point for this journey, before talking about that Life between Lives and ending the day with a group regression so that everyone had the opportunity to experience that non-physical realm. Once there, they were reminded about their “script” for this lifetime – their goals, the obstacles they put in the way, the gifts they were given to help them, and those all-important words of advice and wisdom. We also did some work to cut away and let go of lots of baggage from previous lifetimes, “stuff” that is no longer needed. Everyone said they felt much lighter after that!

It was a very full day, and everyone seemed to enjoy it – I know I did!

Workshops like this are a great way to understand more about the process, and to re-connect with your soul at that deeper level. If you would like to come along to such a workshop, or if you have a group of friends and would like me to come to you, just get in touch – call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I’m based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, but I’m always happy to travel to spread the word and share those experiences!

Fears and Phobias – sorted with Hypnotherapy

Screen shot 2015-06-24 at 3.55.41 PMThe vast majority of people have some kind of phobia and there is a very long list of them with their official very long names! Among the most common are, for instance, fear of flying; fear of crowds and / or public speaking; fear of enclosed spaces; fear of fire or water; fear of particular animals and so on.

For much of the time people with a phobia can somehow work around it but when it reaches a point when the phobia is having a negative impact on that person’s life, that is the time to do something about it!

In my many years of working with hypnotherapy and past life regression, I have to say that almost invariably a phobia can be traced back to a past life trauma. Not always of course – a fear of dogs may come from having been attacked or bitten by a dog in childhood – but I would still check to see if that chimes with a similar incident in a past life.

Past life work is my passion, and it still makes me smile when I work with a client and uncover one or more past lives that explain the root cause of the given phobia. The examples are endless, and all make perfect sense: let me share a few with you to give you an idea.

A woman who told me she was fine being by the sea but could not stand being by a lake or a river went back to a life as a street urchin in London. The young boy ran errands for an inn-keeper in exchange for board and lodging, often delivering packages on a strict, “ask no questions” basis. A few years later, the boy was doing similar work for one of the London gangs, and had done something to upset them. His punishment was to be tied hand and foot and thrown into the Thames: not a nice ending.

A woman came to see me with a complicated cocktail of emotional issues, including not feeling loved or wanted; an obsession with food; and wanting to have children but at the same time being very unsure about that whole thing. We found a very short, sad life where she was a young baby who was just one mouth too many to feed, and who had been thrown down a deep well and buried alive. Can you imagine the feelings and emotions of that tiny infant? The darkness, the fear, the sense of not being loved or wanted? The hunger, the weight of the earth and the suffocating as the poor little mite was buried. Yes, it was very traumatic, and we did a lot of healing – but it really did show where many of the issues came from. “Lighter and brighter” is a very typical response once that type of session has been processed.

A man whose issues included a sense of loss and depression, and who in this life is a great nature lover, found a life as a native American Indian at a time when the tribes were under threat of attack and invasion by soldiers. As an Elder of the Tribe, he was responsible for trying to find the best solution for the people, including negotiating with other tribes to join against the common enemy. There was a feeling of living in times of enormous change over which there was no control; of destruction of the environment by the invaders; and of not being able to protect his people. The death was relatively peaceful, surrounded by other Elders, but considerable wisdom came through from that lifetime with a broader understanding of his affinity with nature, and also put that sense of loss and depression to bed.

Very often people who are holding on to excess weight have starved to death in a previous life; those with a fear of heights have perhaps been pilots who were shot down in battle, or going further back soldiers who fell off castle battlements.

Does it all sound very depressing? I don’t mean it to. When you consider that we have all had many, many lives, most of which have been “ordinary” and some of which may have ended in trauma, it puts it all in context. By finding the trauma, releasing it at source and doing the relevant healing work, it allows the client to move forward with his or her life free of the the baggage that they have been carrying for far too long!

If any of this chimes with you; if you feel it’s time to tackle that phobia that’s holding you back – give me a call now on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I’m always happy to talk you through past life regression or any other aspect of my work.
I am based at Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and sessions can be arranged day time, evening or weekends, to suit busy schedules!

Next step along your spiritual pathway? Let me help!

stained glass Compassion mother and childIt may seem strange to talk about spiritual development on a hypnotherapy website, but it’s not strange to me at all. In my sessions, I blend clinical hypnotherapy with past life regression and spirit release work, and I am perfectly aware that my helpers are with me when I am with a client.

Nowadays, increasing numbers of people are “waking up” – becoming aware of latent spiritual gifts: they may start to see or hear things, or just to be aware that something has shifted. It is not always easy to find people to talk to about this – that’s why I started the Indigo Umbrella group a couple of years ago (www.indigoumbrella.co.uk). The aim is to bring together like-minded people who share an interest across the spectrum of Science meets Spirituality – and, I have to ask, in this day and age, is there actually any difference between science and spirituality at all?

I have recently had calls from people who have been “woken up” and wanted someone to talk to, some guidance and perhaps a bit of understanding about what was going on. I do not claim to be an expert by any means, but I am always happy to meet up with and talk to such people. Sometimes a past life session helps, or a session where we re-connect with the soul and that wonderful loving wisdom. Sometimes I am able to put the person in touch with others who can share their own experiences and knowledge. But always it is a comfort, a relief, for them to find a safe, welcoming environment in which to talk about “all that stuff”.

So if you feel you have just started your spiritual journey, or you are on the way but have got stuck – give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512: I look forward to hearing from you!

Weight Loss – get to the real root cause

red apple, inches tape measureObesity is, if you’ll forgive the pun, a growing problem in this country. Depending on which reports you read, up to 70% of us are clinically overweight, while more than 40% of us would be classified as obese.

There is a huge media-driven paradox about weight. On the one hand, everywhere you look, there is food – whole shelves of magazines dedicated to it, TV programmes and overnight celebrities and, of course, advertisements to tempt us to “treat yourselves” or “enjoy”. And on the other hand, there is an exaggerated obsession with being slim to the point of skeletal.
No wonder, then, that many people are confused about what they should eat, what is good and what isn’t. It is perfectly possible to read an article explaining why sugar and dairy products are bad for you, then switch on the TV and see people making meringues or cream-filled cakes!

I totally understand that diet is important, and so is exercise – nobody is going to lose weight if they eat processed food and don’t do any exercise at all. Equally “yo-yo” dieting is a “no-go” , as it confuses the body into adopting a starvation mode and holding on to whatever food it can.

My approach to weight loss is to help the client to uncover the emotional root causes – why are they holding on to excess weight? In my experience, it could be one of many reasons, from childhood abuse to bullying at school; from miscarriage or still-birth to a painful relationship split. The excess weight could be protection or comfort – but when it gets out of control, or when it is no longer needed or appropriate, then we need to let it go. It is quite common to find that people who have an obsession with food in this life have starved to death in a previous life, and have “carried forward” the thought “I will never go hungry again”.
I worked with a young lady last year who wanted to get rid of her excess weight. By her own admission, her diet was dreadful, but she could not stop thinking about food. In the first session we did some spirit release work after which she completely lost her craving for cakes, biscuits and sweets – she had been feeding a “passenger” with a sweet tooth! In a past life session, yes she had starved to death, so we resolved that too. By the time we had finished, her workmates were commenting on how well she looked – but most importantly, she had re-discovered her true self, and had taken back control of her life and her eating habits.
Another lady I worked with said she had tried every diet in the book and then some! She had gone through the menopause, that had only made things worse, the weight would not shift. We talked about her life and it emerged that she had lost two babies at birth. To me that was a key issue, and sure enough when we explored that at soul level, then was a huge amount of guilt and grief to be dealt with. After many tears and much deep healing, the change in the client was clearly visible. After several sessions, she too had re-connected with her true self, better placed to cope with current challenges – and without the excess weight that no longer served her.
I will fit a hypnotic gastric band if the client and I feel that it is necessary. Quite often, even those clients who arrive determined to have one decide that they don’t need it after all – and that’s fine by me too! You’ll find more about hypnotic gastric banding elsewhere on this site, and more about me too.
I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I’m always happy to talk to potential clients before they commit to working with me: feel free to give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.

You couldn’t make it up!

I am passionate about past life work, and the enormous amount of insight and wisdom, healing and closure that can come from finding – and resolving –  the real root cause of an issue that has been nagging for months or years. From my own experience over many years, I know how powerful it can be, and even the most dubious of clients have been astonished by the richness of their journey. All their senses are engaged: not only do they hear and see what is going on, they taste, smell and touch what is around them, be it a dank dungeon or an exotic marketplace; a sinking ship or a dusty desert.

sunset with silhouette manPeople sometimes say to me, “Jude, these past lives, the clients just make them up,” and my reply goes something like this: Why would a successful businessman make up a life in which he is a 10-year old boy, back in the Middle Ages. His father is a tenant farmer, there has been a very bad harvest, so no work and no food. His father has gone away to try and find work and food, leaving the boy to look after his mother and a young baby. The mother becomes ill through hunger. The boy goes to the barn of the lord of the manor and steals a handful of potatoes to try and help his mother. he is caught, and hanged from a branch of the nearest tree. Aged ten.
Not very glamorous, is it? Doesn’t do much for the career prospects or the ego, does it? Not something you would boast about at the bar …

Or the woman who ran her own business who found a young girl way back in time in a tribe somewhere in middle Europe. She was dressed in a white frock and had a garland of flowers in her hair – and then she understood why: she was to be the victim of a barbaric – and incredibly painful – ritual in which her own mother took a leading role. Hardly Cleopatra’s handmaiden, or brave general leading his troops to victory.

Or the young man who found  a young lady who worked as a chambermaid in a stately country home in pre-war England. She became pregnant, and was thrown out – not good for the image, don’t you know. She went to London and ended up as a prostitute, even though she was five months pregnant. This young lady was beaten up in one of London’s seedy back streets, lost her baby and died from the subsequent infection. How would a nice young man – very much of the modern generation – know how much a prostitute charged before the war – and what the client got for that (in the common vernacular!)? Again, he is hardly going to boast about that to his mates, is he?

It is my belief that we have all been men and women, good and not-so-good. The life (or lives) that the client is led to in a session is the one that is most relevant to the issues they are working on in the here and now. And always, without fail, the experience is one they don’t forget.

If you would like to experience past life regression, call me on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512.

I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I am very flexible on times. Clients who come from London to see me often prefer weekends, for instance. The train journey from Victoria, London Bridge, Clapham Junction or East Croydon is very quick and easy, and the clients enjoy the peace, quiet and fresh air of the Sussex countryside.

Are you a typical hypnotherapy client?

I am often asked about the type of people who come to see me, and what sort of issues they are looking to resolve. The assumption is that, because the way I work is a tad “off piste” shall we say, that my clients are a bit whacky too.

Screen shot 2014-02-17 at 3.53.31 PMNot so. My clients span the spectrum of trades and professions, from police officers and airline cabin crew to business consultants, top executives and successful entrepreneurs. Mixed in with a goodly sprinkling of women who look after home and children or do regular granny duty!

pensive mature womanThe age range is from mid-20s to late 60s, with a couple of clients in their 70s. Proportion about 1/3 men to 2/3 women. Issues range far and wide, from various fears and phobias to giving up smoking; from weight problems to pain control. But actually, underlying many of these “presenting problems” as we call them, were emotional and relationship issues.

Typically a woman will reach that point in her life when the youngest child is just off to university, there could well be a crisis of some kind in the relationship with her husband, perhaps issues from her childhood have been triggered …. any one of these on its own would be enough to pile on weight, but two or more and it is almost certain that there will be comfort eating and it will be tough to get rid of the excess weight. I don’t recommend more hours in the gym or fewer lettuce leaves for lunch; rather I help the client to trace back the real root cause of the issue, and we resolve it at source, be that childhood in this life or way back in another lifetime.

Or it may be that a client will say something like, “I feel something’s come over me” or “I’m not myself” or “I want my old self back:” Have you found yourself saying that? That indicates to me that you could well have picked up a spirit “Passenger” along the way. Nothing dramatic, it can be sorted out very easily – and voilá, you have your old self back!

Fear of success; addictive behaviours; nagging anxiety; sleep walking or activity in a sleep state; lack of confidence: do any of those ring a bell with you? Perhaps you are curious about a past life – do you have flashbacks, or a recurring dream? Or are you perhaps just on your own spiritual journey and feel that delving that bit deeper into who you were could help that process along?

If so – you are a typical client for hypnotherapy, and I would love to hear from you!

I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I am very flexible on times. Clients who come to see me from London very often come at weekends, for instance – they enjoy the easy train journey (less than an hour) and the peace, quiet and fresh air of the Sussex countryside!
