The health risks associated with smoking are common knowledge, and dying of lung cancer is not the prettiest way to go. I speak from personal experience, having watched my mother die at the young age of 58 from this ugly, unforgiving disease.
There is no point coming to see me to give up smoking if you are coming reluctantly, or under orders from someone else.
“My wife says I’ve got to give up,” isn’t going to do it. If you don’t really want to give up, then your unconscious will be working against you, not with you.
If you are motivated, if you have made the decision that it is time to stop, then hypnosis is a quick and effective way to do that. I have helped countless people of all ages to kick the habit, and nothing gives me greater personal pleasure. One of my clients was a young man of thirty-something who was smoking 50 cigarettes a day.
He quit after just one session and called me to say,
“50 to zero in one go – that’s quite something!”
I have recently introduced a 3-step programme for those people who want to give up smoking with hypnosis. While many people walk out of the first session and don’t even think about smoking after that, others need another couple of sessions to “push the message home”. It has sometimes been the case that those who need that extra push feel that they have (or I have) “failed” because they didn’t manage to stop after just one session.
So now I have re-organised to work with a 3-step programme for everyone. The first session is a full two hours, to allow for taking case history and checking to see if there are any underlying emotional issues that perhaps need to be dealt with before taking the step of giving up smoking. The two follow-up sessions are one hour each. The fee for the whole package of three sessions is £300.
