DO YOU KNOW AN EMOTIONAL VOLCANO?

Someone weighed down by too much stress, emotional trauma or anxiety is like a volcano. They may seem perfectly calm on the outside, while inside issues and emotions are building up to boiling point. Very often it only takes a minor “something” to trigger the eruption, when all of that pent-up frustration, anger, resentment or even fear suddenly overflows, spilling onto everyone around, leaving a trail of emotional destruction in its wake. “Where did that come from?” “What’s the matter with her?” “What did I say?” I have been working recently with a number of people who have reached “eruption point” and who are seeking not only a controlled outlet for their emotions, but also to understand the real root cause for that build-up. Sometimes it’s obvious – childhood abuse, bullying at school and / or the workplace and / or in relationships – sometimes it goes back much further. Whatever and wherever the real root cause, I work with the client to trace it back, and then we resolve and heal all the issues at source. The client has offloaded, once and for all, that heavy emotional baggage that was likely to erupt at any time, leaving them lighter, brighter, and able to move on with their lives. If someone you know is an emotional volcano, give them my contact details. I am always happy to have a chat – no charge, no obligation – very often just talking to an independent someone is a great help. My numbers are 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512, and my email is: judy@effective-hypnotherapy.co.uk. FREEDOM FROM FEARS AND PHOBIAS

How fears and phobias hold us back Mary was delighted to become a grandmother for the first time. But her new grandson was in Hong Kong and her fear of flying made it impossible for her to go and visit him. Sally’s daughter was terrified of dogs. Her walk to school was a nightmare, and playing in the park was out of the question. Dave loved driving but would have to check every route because he couldn’t bear to drive over bridges. It added miles to each journey, wasted valuable time and cost extra in fuel. Mary sent me an email with a photo of her holding her grandson in Hong Kong. Sally’s daughter no longer dreads the walk to school. Dave has discovered many scenic new routes since he overcame his fear of bridges. If you know someone who is being held back in their personal or professional life by a fear or a phobia (one is just a more severe version of the other), why not reassure them that help is at hand? I am based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex and I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre, also in Haywards Heath. I’m always happy to have a chat about the issues that are stopping people reaching their full potential. Feel free to give me a call on 07597 020 512 or email me on: judy@effective-hypnotherapy.co.uk....

Weight Loss – an alternative solution

It’s that time of year when holiday brochures and TV ads show tempting images of sparkling blue seas, golden beaches – and people in perfect shape showing off their bodies. That can be enough to make you throw the brochure across the room, change channels on the TV and have another handful of biscuits! We all know that sensible eating and doing some exercise is a good start to healthy living, whether or not the objective is an hour-glass figure. And we all know that “slimming” and “weight loss” are multi-million-pound industries in their own right – just look at the books, magazines and websites dedicated to them, let alone the huge array of products promoted as being the best, the only, solution. And yet, many people are still “overweight”. I freely admit that I take serious issue with the whole “BMI is the holy grail” nonsense. Those of you who know me will know that I am no size 6 stick insect: I probably come up as “obese” on the medical scale and I admit I could do with losing a few pounds.  But other readings come up as green, or healthy, or normal, and if my only problem is holding on to a few extra pounds, then for me, life is too short to worry about it. The food we eat today is nothing like the food our grandparents ate – it has been sprayed with goodness knows what, much of it has been genetically modified, and there is hidden salt, sugar and oil in just about everything. If you really want to be free of the “three deadly sins” of sugar, salt and bad oils, you have to look very carefully indeed at labels, or buy, prepare and cook your own food from fresh, preferably organic. And that is not always an option. I do a fair bit of work with people who are seriously overweight, and who have tried everything from the latest faddy diet to hours in the gym, without success. While I would encourage everyone to eat a healthy, balanced mix of food each day and to do some exercise, I believe that, for many people, the real reason they are holding onto excess weight is a deep-rooted emotional trauma. The excess layers of fat could well be there to provide comfort or protection against such events as abuse in early childhood; bullying at school; a broken heart; an abusive relationship; termination of a pregnancy or loss of a baby. When these traumas are uncovered and healed at source, the excess weight has done its job, it is no longer needed, and it is therefore easier to let it go. I have also worked...

How could Hypnotherapy help you?

There seems to be a perception “out there” that people who come to see someone like me must be “strange” in some way, or into “all that woo woo stuff”. Let me set the record straight on that. Some people who come to see me are indeed on their own spiritual journey, and I am very happy to work with them. Using my blend of hypnotherapy, past life, spirit release and soul retrieval work can help them overcome blockages and shift them up a notch or two. However, the majority of people who come to see have not given much thought to their spirituality at all, they just want to sort out whatever issue is holding them back. And that is absolutely fine with me too. There are many ways in which hypnotherapy can be used to help people: indeed that is one of the reasons I was attracted to it all those years ago. Like a tradesman with a toolbox full of tried and tested tools, I will use whichever techniques and processes I feel will be most effective to resolve the particular issue I am dealing with. My objective is always to get to the root cause of the issue and to resolve it at source. What are the typical types of problems that people present me with? Fears and phobias is a common one: anything from a fear of flying to fear of success – a phobia is, after all, a more exaggerated, irrational fear. Very often this can lead back to a past life – the very idea may sound strange to some people, but once they have experienced one or more of their previous lives, they are totally convinced! Weight loss is high on the list too. There is so much hype and media / peer pressure nowadays for people to be slim to the point of being skinny, that even some people I would say are “normal” want to lose weight. I do work with those who are genuinely seriously overweight and we aim to find the real underlying reason why the client is holding on to that excess weight. If needed, and after looking at the other issues, I will “fit” a hypnotic gastric band to help with weight control. “Emotional issues” covers a wide range of challenges that people face, from anxiety and stress to feeling overwhelmed with situations or relationships. Here again I always work with the client to uncover the root causes and deal with those. There may be a couple of “spirit passengers” having an influence – again, some people think this is a very strange concept. To me, it is totally natural, and results can range from subtle...

Soul Retrieval – what does that mean?

I use the Shamanic term to explain the process of going back and “retrieving” those parts of your soul that have split off and been “left behind” at times of trauma. Parts of our soul can split off at any time from birth onwards. Typical situations would be a young child abused by a parent or family member; a teenager whose heart is broken; a parent who experiences a stillbirth or whose child dies unexpectedly; and someone who loses a loved one through death or divorce: there are many more but as you can see, most people nowadays will have gone through at least one of these situations if not more. The process starts with me putting the client into a deep state of relaxation with hypnotherapy. I then talk direct with the client’s unconscious (we might also call it the inner self or higher self), and ask it to indicate the different ages at which there are situations to be addressed. Armed with this list, we start the journey. At each stop, we look for and find the “splintered-off” or “left behind” part of the client. It may be a frightened little boy who was bullied at school, too scared to tell his parents what was going on. He will probably still be scared, confused, shy… Or a teenage girl who was forced to have an abortion: she may be sad, feeling a sense of loss, angry … A young adult whose mother or father died suddenly before there was a chance to say those last goodbyes: he or she could well be feeling cheated, frustrated, angry, confused …. Each of those lost parts need to be re-integrated into the client. This is not always easy, and can often be emotional. Sometimes the lost parts are defiant:  “you’ve forgotten all about me”; “why should I trust you now?”;  “I hate you …” But eventually, with love and warmth and compassion, they can be embraced back into the heart where they belong. The process of leaving behind, letting go of, those emotions that are no longer needed, of cutting the links to any emotional “tug” those fragments may still have had to the adult, is very cathartic. These sessions can be very emotional, and I encourage that release. It is my firm belief that no real emotional healing can take place unless and until the individual is “whole”, and this process is one of the most powerful in allowing that to happen.
