How could Hypnotherapy help you?

There seems to be a perception “out there” that people who come to see someone like me must be “strange” in some way, or into “all that woo woo stuff”. Let me set the record straight on that. Some people who come to see me are indeed on their own spiritual journey, and I am very happy to work with them. Using my blend of hypnotherapy, past life, spirit release and soul retrieval work can help them overcome blockages and shift them up a notch or two. However, the majority of people who come to see have not given much thought to their spirituality at all, they just want to sort out whatever issue is holding them back. And that is absolutely fine with me too. There are many ways in which hypnotherapy can be used to help people: indeed that is one of the reasons I was attracted to it all those years ago. Like a tradesman with a toolbox full of tried and tested tools, I will use whichever techniques and processes I feel will be most effective to resolve the particular issue I am dealing with. My objective is always to get to the root cause of the issue and to resolve it at source. What are the typical types of problems that people present me with? Fears and phobias is a common one: anything from a fear of flying to fear of success – a phobia is, after all, a more exaggerated, irrational fear. Very often this can lead back to a past life – the very idea may sound strange to some people, but once they have experienced one or more of their previous lives, they are totally convinced! Weight loss is high on the list too. There is so much hype and media / peer pressure nowadays for people to be slim to the point of being skinny, that even some people I would say are “normal” want to lose weight. I do work with those who are genuinely seriously overweight and we aim to find the real underlying reason why the client is holding on to that excess weight. If needed, and after looking at the other issues, I will “fit” a hypnotic gastric band to help with weight control. “Emotional issues” covers a wide range of challenges that people face, from anxiety and stress to feeling overwhelmed with situations or relationships. Here again I always work with the client to uncover the root causes and deal with those. There may be a couple of “spirit passengers” having an influence – again, some people think this is a very strange concept. To me, it is totally natural, and results can range from subtle...

STOPTOBER and E-CIGARETTES: what are you inhaling?

STOPTOBER – the initiative to encourage people to stop smoking for 28 days during October. Why 28 days? Because if you can stop for 4 weeks, you are five times more likely to quit for good. I’ve been looking into this, because hypnotherapy has such a great track record at helping people to give up, without the need for potions, patches or poisons. Lots of people think they are doing themselves a favour, or “cutting down” by switching from cigarettes to E-cigarettes. Do you know what’s actually in the e-liquid? It’s nicotine that has been extracted from tobacco, mixed with a base – usually propylene glycol – and flavourings, colourings and other chemicals. Sounds tasty, doesn’t it? I first came across propylene glycol when I was researching ingredients in personal care products. It is commonly used in anti-freeze – yes, anti-freeze. Would you really want to inhale that? Higher voltage e-cigarettes also contain more formaldehyde, another known carcinogen. It is commonly found in building materials; paints & coatings; fertilisers and pesticides. Nice. One of the common flavourings is Diacetyl. This is a buttery-flavoured chemical often added to food such as popcorn, caramel and dairy products. It can cause a serious and irreversible lung disease commonly known as “popcorn lung”. Why it is still allowed to be added to food is beyond me, but would you really want to ingest that into your body? If you are thinking of giving up smoking for October, why not give up for good – your good? Give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. STOPTOBER: Give up smoking with Hypnotherapy

I can’t remember when STOPTOBER crept into the annual calendar – but at least it has raised awareness of the health issues of smoking and the possibility that you can give up! If you’ve been promising yourself to give up just for a month – why not give up for good – your good? That’s not moralising, it’s fact: giving up will be good for your health and for your bank balance! I’ve had a fair few people come to see me recently to give up smoking. Sometimes it’s very straightforward – nothing else going on with them, it’s just a bad habit and it’s time to stop. Sometimes, there are underlying issues that need to be addressed, and that will make it much easier to kick the habit completely. In any event, we sort out what’s happening, and we resolve it at source. Then we work on the giving up smoking. Do you want to stop smoking? Do you REALLY want to stop smoking? If so, give me a call on 01444 459 433 or 07597 020 512. I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I’m always happy to talk about how I can help...

Giving up Smoking with Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy has a very good track record at helping people to give up smoking. In fact, if you ask the man (or woman!) in the street what hypnotherapy can be used for, “giving up smoking” would probably be up there in the top two or three answers. It’s a shame, really, that the NHS doesn’t acknowledge this, or recognise hypnotherapy as a valid alternative to patches or chewing gum or “vaping” – but that could be another article all in itself! My approach to anyone who comes to me saying they want to give up smoking is, first of all, to ask a couple of questions. “Do you want to give up smoking'” and then, “do you REALLY want to give up smoking?” If the answer to the second question is anything on the spectrum of, “my wife says I should give up,” or “my new boyfriend says I smell like an ashtray,” then it could well be that the motivation is not yet strong enough. But I also like to look deeper, to work from the inside out: let me give you an example. A lovely man came to see me a while back, saying he wanted to give up smoking. I could see that he was stressed, his hands trembled constantly and during our chat he admitted to having a fear of heights that was impacting on his work. I suggested that we should tackle these underlying issues before looking at him giving up smoking, and he agreed. After the first session,  dealing with some spirit “passengers”, his hands no longer trembled, and he said he felt more relaxed. The past life session uncovered two very different lives, both of which were directly linked to his fear of heights. Having resolved and healed those traumas, he positively bounced into the next session saying that not only had his fear of heights vanished, but his quality of sleep had improved enormously. The “soul retrieval” session gave a sense of “wholeness” and overall wellbeing that rounded the healing work off nicely. After that, giving up smoking was very easy! In fact, when I checked in with him a few weeks later, he wrote me a very nice email to say, “I haven’t had a single cigarette since our session and don’t even think about smoking now, so many thanks for helping with that.” Now to me, that’s the way to give up smoking! I work from Vinings Natural Health Centre in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, and I am always very happy to have a chat about giving up smoking or any other aspect of my work. If you feel I can help you, please give me a call on...

Stop Smoking with Hypnotherapy

Giving up Smoking It’s a long time since I worked with clients to help them stop smoking – like the proverbial Number 9 bus, there are none at all and then three turn up all at once! One of the very first people I worked with, many years ago now, was my nephew who was then aged around 30 and was smoking 50 cigarettes a day. Apart from the damage to his lungs, his heart and his overall health and well-being, the sheer cost, the amount of money that was literally going up in smoke, amazed me. He went from 50 to nothing in one session – “blimey, Aunty Jude, that was amazing!” is how he put it. People want to stop smoking for various reasons, usually health and financial issues are close to the top of the list. I remember one man saying he had just become a grandfather and wanted to see his grandson grow up. Another man wanted to walk his newly-born daughter up the aisle, and didn’t want her seeing him growing old as a coughing, wheezing dad with no energy to play with her. For others it is career-driven. It is no longer cool or smart to smoke, quite the opposite. It is widely perceived as being a dumb thing to do, a waste of money, something that has been clearly shown to have dire effects on health. So a smart, career-driven executive will no longer win promotion by blowing cigarette smoke in his / her boss’s face. Hypnosis has a very good success rate with those who really want to give up smoking – but that is the key, they must REALLY want to give up smoking. It should only take one session, perhaps with one more to drive the message home. It’s painless, non-invasive and cheaper than a dozen 20 packs of a typical brand. If you would like to stop – if you would REALLY like to stop – give me a call on 07597 020...
